Do you sometimes feel the need for comic relief when you think about managed care? We recommend you check out Dr. Sam and the Managed Care Blues Band. Dr. Sam, aka Samuel Bierstock, M.D., is a former eye surgeon in Florida who writes and performs satirical songs about managed care with a six-member band (whom he calls his “panel of musical providers”). Some of his gems include “Checkin’ Out My Records,” “You Picked a Fine Time to Leave Me, Blue Shield,” and “You’re One Hip Mama ‘Cause They Won’t Pay for Two.”  In addition to the songs, Dr. Sam banters with the band about the woes of managed care on his CD, “Minimal Service.”   You can purchase a copy, “free plus a $14.95 co-pay,” by phone at (888) 426-7529 or at his web site, http://www.managedmusic.com .

Dr. Sam is looking for ideas for more songs representing every field of health care, including mental health, and provides a place at his web site where suggestions can be sent in. We hope the creative among you will submit some great song ideas!

Dear colleague Ellenberger!

funny to find DoctorsTalents.com..... congratulations for your activities!
Of course there are informations and pictures about my musical activities on the homepage of www.Muddys-Club.de ,

Just yesterday (in 2006) there was my penultima blues session in the club - having 40 young people from Ramat Gan/Israel and other guests- and it was phantastic again!
How many MusicDocs there are in one town could be noticed 2 years ago when we made a beneficial concert in the Muddys club for "Ärzte ohne Grenzen" (Doctors without borders): Jazz, Blues, Irish Folk, Klassik, Folklore und Rock'n Roll was played by Docs for Docs - we had to close at 9 p.m. because the place was overcrowded!

Occasionally I play the violin (because my wife dislikes it...) and I get into tenor sax for the last 2 or 3 years. It is a pity that I have little time to practise.
Half a year ago we had a nice photo exposition about Chicago. Our colleague Höltermann (chief cardiologist of our hospital) and I could raise at least 850 €uro for a beneficial purpose.

This is how we are enjoying arts - our patients like it - and we have our relaxation....

kind regards to Buchen!

Yours
"Bluesdoc" Ulf Wittenberg
