4) Walther Ludwig was TenorDoc
He lived from 1902 to 1981.
From the 30-ties he was one of the most popular tenors in the german
speaking countries.
Walther Ludwig was born the son of a businessman in Bad Oeynhausen and was initially studying medicine when, just for fun, sang for a friend who just happened to be the conductor of the local opera house. Things suddenly became serious when it was determined that Ludwig possessed such a fine tenor voice that he was convinced to give up medicine for the opera house. A successful lieder recital during the 1929/30 season under the conductor's tutorship paved the way for a contract to perform at the opera house. With the Depression underway, he accepted the contract which eventually led to a very busy career at the house in Schwerin. Roles in La Dame Blanche, La Boheme, La Traviata and Madame Butterfly brought forth praise from the critics for his soft, flexible and extremely melodious voice. Such success led to a contract with the State Opera in Charlottenburg, Berlin. Here he won acclaim as Tamino, Don Ottavio, Belmonte and Idamante, the roles which brought him international fame as a Mozart singer par excellence. He also devoted himself to lieder and oratorio singing, and even made several operetta recordings. Physical problems forced him to retire in the 1950s but he would continue to pass along to many students the musical knowledge he had gained. And, yes, during the 1960s he took time to go to school and finally complete the medical studies he had set aside so many years earlier!

John Hodge (born in 1964 in Glasgow,
Scotland) is a British screenwriter, most noted for his adaptation of
Irvine Welsh's novel Trainspotting into the script for the film of the
same title.
Raised in Glasgow, Hodge comes from a family of doctors and carried on
the tradition by studying medicine at the University of Edinburgh.
Still a licensed, practicing doctor, Hodge started writing screenplays
after meeting producer Andrew Macdonald at the Edinburgh Film Festival
in 1991. He moved to London and gave up working for a short period of
time to concentrate on writing.
His movies include Shallow Grave (1994), Trainspotting (1996) A Life
Less Ordinary (1997), The Beach (2000), The Final Curtain (2002), and
the short film Alien Love Triangle (2002). Most of his films are
directed by Danny Boyle, who also directed cult horror movie 28 Days
Later (2002).
Shallow Grave, Trainspotting, and A Life Less Ordinary all starred
Ewan McGregor. Hodge is known for being heavily influenced by American
film in that he is more interested in plot than character development.
In 1995 he received a BAFTA Award, and in 1996 was nominated for an
Academy Award for Writing Adapted Screenplay for Trainspotting. He
lives in Hawai.
