Alfredo De Pietra was born in Potenza, (Italy) in 1955. Actually
he lives in Palermo, Sicily (Italy).
He began
to listen to Irish music in the mid-seventies: his first musical passions,
regarding this music, were for the Chieftains and the Bothy Band.
During
the years he has enlarged his music knowledge of Celtic music, listening mostly
to Celtic music for the guitar. In 2000 he put online a web site:
devoted to Celtic music, very popular among the Italian fans of Celtic music.
Since
2001 till today he has been one of the main contributors of the monthly Italian
CD/magazine “Keltika”, for which he has written dozens of reviews, articles
and interviews with the main Celtic musicians from allover the world.
Alfredo
De Pietra is also a Doctor in Medicine, specialized in Anesthesiology and
Intensive Care, and works as family doctor in Palermo, Sicily.
He has written a very instructive page about guitar with useful links (in italian though).

Dr.med. Vera Zylka-Menhorn cannot yet look back on her entire
work of life since she is just 52 years old and surely will have a lot to do´...
Though she is journalist for 20 years now. On April 25, 2006 she got the
Walter-Trummert-medal from Prof.Dr.med. Peter Sefrin in the name of the
association of the german medical press, this happened in Wiesbaden where this
association had a yearly meeting.
Zylka-Mehnhorn, born on May 3, 1954, studied medicine in Cologne
(1972-1979) and became specialized in Anesthesy. She was much interested in the
athmosphere
in the operation rooms.
In 1986 she swithced over to journalism, beginning at the big german newspaper "DIE WELT" (1986-1990), then as free lance and finally she came to the "Deutsches Ärzteblatt". There she is responsable for the "Medizinreport" which is commenting actual medical reports. She is emphasizing precise information about new products and procedures and is never shy to use clear words.
By the way the prize was donated by two competing companies -people were smiling about this fact. Their teams were sitting on different tables but were unified in the intention to honorate critical journalism......
She is student of pharmacology and German in Bonn and Düsseldorf and has the
Asperger syndrome.
But she published books about her illness and how she lives fairly normal: "A
day with savoy cabbage is a good day",
holds lectures about autism and is a requested interview partner. Apart from
this she is member of the MENSA organisation
